Found Poem

I Was

I was going to eat breakfast

I was student teaching a 4th grade class

I was watching TV with my mother in law

I was sitting in my home office working

I was a senior in high school

I was sitting there in class during second period

I experienced by watching tv

I witnessed on the television

I noticed it on T.V., radio, newspapers

I was on the 30th floor of the North Tower.

I was heartbroken

I just cried and cried

I was worried

I kept shaking my head

I felt my eyes begin to water

I was at my desk, and was knocked out of my chair.

I did not even think to take my briefcase.

I just remember that it smelled bad.

I was nervous.

I was getting more scared.

I remember thinking that I hope and pray I get out alive.

I was so scared.

I remember holding onto both railings.

I remember hearing someone say, one more flight to go.

I just remember how good that sounded.

I saw an endless number of fire engines.

I was watching it right in front of my eyes.

I saw people jumping out of the World Trade Center.

I cannot get those pictures out of my mind.

I hardly knew what to think.

I witnessed the collapse of the North Tower.

I cannot comprehend it.

I prayed for all the people who had died

I cherish my time now

I tell people that I love them more

I will never forget that day

I will always remember the heroics

I have been advised by some that I should not watch the news.

I watched the 6 month anniversary.

I will be watching September 11, 2002.

I guarantee one thing.

My eyes will not be dry.
